Measuring 17 x 14 x 3 in (432 x 356 x 76 mm), the 1444-17143 is a natural-finish aluminum chassis in the 1444 Series, sized for OEM engineers, hobbyists and audio builders assembling tube, audio or other classic-style electronics on a sturdy metal deck.
The chassis is spot welded for heavy-duty construction and formed from 0.051" (1.30 mm) aluminum — the thicker of the two gauges used in the series. It ships in a natural aluminum finish, and the protective covering on the aluminum can double as a layout surface for marking hole positions before you cut.
Inside, the drawing gives an inner box of 16.90 in (429.21 mm) long, 13.90 in (353.01 mm) wide and 2.90 in (73.61 mm) high, so you can check internal component clearances before ordering. Shipping weight is 0.25 lbs (0.11 kg).
The bottom is open. A matching natural-finish bottom plate, part 1434-1714, is available separately; bottom plates are punched with four 3/16" diameter holes and are made from the same 0.051" aluminum. Mounting hardware for the plate is not included — order 1421J6, a package of six 6-32 x 1/4" self-tapping cover screws.
Keep in mind that Hammond's 1451 Series steel chassis covers are not compatible with this series. The chassis is RoHS and REACH compliant, can be factory modified (milling, drilling, printing) on request, and solid models are available in STEP or IGES formats.
