The 1444-12 is a 7 in x 5 in x 2 in (178 mm x 127 mm x 51 mm) aluminum chassis in the 1444 Series. It is a practical size for small audio and tube projects, and for general electronics that need a compact metal base.
It is spot welded, heavy duty construction in 0.040 in aluminum (0.04 in / 1 mm in the ordering table) with a natural aluminum finish. The protective covering on the aluminum doubles as a layout surface, per the series photo notes.
The drawing lists an inner box length of 175.77 mm [6.92 in], inner box width of 124.97 mm [4.92 in] and inner box height of 48.77 mm [1.92 in]. Shipping weight is 0.37 lbs (0.17 kg).
This size is also offered with solid walnut side panels as part number 1444-12CWW. For the plain 1444-12, all components are sold separately: natural-finish bottom plate 1434-12 (0.040 in aluminum, 4 holes of 3/16 in diameter) and plated cover screws 1421J6 (package of 6, 6-32 x 1/4 in self-tapping). The 1451 series steel covers are not compatible.
The 1444-12 is REACH and RoHS compliant and ships in shrink wrap. Factory modification (milling, drilling, printing) is available, and STEP or IGES solid models can be provided.
