Hammond 1441-32BK3CWW 17x10x3 in Satin Black Steel Chassis, Walnut Sides

The 1441-32BK3CWW is a satin black steel chassis fitted with real walnut sides, measuring 17 in x 10 in x 3 in (432 mm x 254 mm x 76 mm). It is the walnut-side upgrade of the 1441-32BK3 satin black chassis and is aimed at electronics builders, audio and tube-equipment makers and OEM engineers who want a finished, furniture-grade look on a heavy-duty steel base.

The chassis is spot welded from 20 gauge steel (the drawing specifies 0.036 in steel) and finished in satin black powder paint. Unlike the plain steel versions, the drawing notes that this chassis includes the wooden sides, adhesive rubber feet and the required hardware. When fitted, the walnut sides bring the bottom-view outline to 449.58 mm [17.70 in] by 266.70 mm [10.50 in].

Inside, the usable box measures 429.97 mm [16.93 in] long, 251.66 mm [9.91 in] wide and 74.37 mm [2.93 in] high. Shipping weight is 4.55 lbs (2.06 kg), and the part ships shrink wrapped. This 3 in tall version of the 17 in x 10 in footprint shares its bottom panel and perforated cover part numbers with the 2 in tall 1441-30, and it is also offered with walnut sides.

An optional satin black bottom plate, 1431-30BK3, closes the underside; bottom plates are punched with 4 holes of 3/16 in diameter, and the chassis includes 1/8 in holes to accept them. Bottom plate screws are sold separately (black cover screws 1421J6BK, pkg of 6, 6-32 x 1/4 in self-tapping), and the drawing warns that screws should not be torqued past 4.43 lbf.in (50 cN.m). Replacement clear self-adhesive rubber feet are listed as 1421T6CL (pkg of 24).

The 1441-32BK3CWW is RoHS and REACH compliant. Enclosures can be factory modified (milling, drilling, printing), and solid models are available in STEP or IGES format for layout work.
