Hammond 1427KR Steel Key Ring Kit for Handheld Enclosures

The 1427KR is a key ring kit from the Hammond 1551 series of ABS plastic miniature hand held enclosures, where it is listed as the key ring that is also sold separately. It suits product designers and small-batch builders turning a miniature enclosure into a key fob style housing for a small circuit board, sensor or tag.

The kit's material is listed as steel, and it is supplied in a bag. The part page gives a shipping weight of 0.01 lbs (0.00 kg), so it adds almost nothing to the finished assembly. It is RoHS compliant and REACH compliant, with UPC 623980486413 and UNSPSC 39121301.

Within the 1551 series, three sizes are available with an integrated key ring: 1551GRBK/1551GRGY (50 x 35 x 20 mm), 1551HRBK/1551HRGY (60 x 35 x 20 mm) and 1551KRBK/1551KRGY (80 x 40 x 20 mm), in black or grey. The series notes that models with a key ring kit are predrilled in the narrow side. The separately sold 1427KR lets you source the key ring hardware on its own, for example as a replacement.

The 1551 enclosures themselves are molded from general purpose ABS, with 2 mm (0.08 in) walls and lap joint construction designed to meet IP54. If you plan to modify an enclosure for the key ring, the series chemical resistance statement advises against cutting or tapping fluid (an air blast is recommended to clear chips) and thread locking compounds on screws.
