Hammond 1422A8F 54x42x8 in Type 12 Two-Door Enclosure with Feet

The 1422A8F is a 54 x 42 x 8 in nominal NEMA Type 12 two-door enclosure from the 1422 FM Series, designed to house electrical, electronic, hydraulic or pneumatic controls and instruments where a degree of protection from falling dirt, dust, oil and water is needed. It stands on 12 in floor stands welded to the enclosure and sits directly on the floor. It suits panel builders and OEM engineers laying out 42 in wide two-door control panels.

It is the shortest height in the series, formed from 14 gauge steel and supplied with a removable 12 gauge inner panel. Seams are continuously welded without knockouts or holes, body stiffeners add rigidity, and heavy duty lifting eyebolts are provided with reinforced support angles. The enclosure and cover are phosphatized and finished in recoatable smooth ANSI 61 gray powder coat, while the inner panel is white powder coat.

Overall size is 54.13 x 42.06 x 8.69 in (1,375 x 1,068 x 221 mm) and the included inner panel is 50.00 x 38.00 in. The 8 in nominal depth keeps the enclosure shallow; the drawing shows 8.14 in of usable depth and a door opening of 39.31 in wide by 51.38 in high. With the floor stands the drawing gives an overall height of 66.13 in. Shipping weight is 306 lbs (138.80 kg), shipped on a skid.

Gasketed overlapping doors remove the need for a center post. The continuously hinged doors lift off by pulling the hinge pin and close on a three point latch with roller-equipped latch rods, operated by a key locking, padlockable handle. Oil resistant gaskets are permanently secured. Inside are inner panel collar studs, light kit mounting provision, grounding and bonding studs, and a literature pocket.
