Hammond 1418N4S16O10 42x30x10 in Type 4X 316 Stainless Wallmount Enclosure

The Hammond 1418N4S16O10 is a Type 4X wallmount enclosure formed from 316 stainless steel, measuring 42 x 30 x 10 in (1,067 mm x 762 mm x 254 mm) H x W x D. It is designed for use as an instrument enclosure, an electric, hydraulic or pneumatic control housing, an electrical junction box or a terminal wiring enclosure, and for locations where equipment may be hosed down or be very wet, or where corrosion is a serious problem.

The body is formed 14 gauge stainless steel with smooth, continuously welded seams and no knockouts, cutouts or holes. A formed lip on the door and enclosure excludes flowing liquids and contaminants, and a seamless poured-in-place gasket seals the door. The door hangs on a stainless steel continuous hinge that can be removed by pulling the hinge pin, and closes with stainless steel clamps with provision for padlocking. The drawing for this size shows a door stiffener for extra rigidity. The cover and enclosure are natural stainless steel with a smooth brushed finish.

Its 42 in height and 30 in width give a vertical, portrait-format layout. A 10 in (254 mm) depth gives 10.17 in of usable depth per the drawing, more room than the 6 in and 8 in depths in the series. The drawing shows a door opening of 27.21 x 39.21 in (W x H), and an included removable 12 gauge inner panel of 39 x 27 in (991 mm x 686 mm) H x W, finished in white powder coating and mounted on collar studs. Shipping weight is 145 lbs (65.77 kg).

Welded brackets are provided for wall mounting, with 0.44 in mounting holes shown on the drawing. A bonding stud on the door, a grounding stud in the enclosure and a literature pocket inside the door are included. The series is listed to UL 508A Type 3R, 4, 4X and 12 and CSA Type 3R, 4, 4X and 12, and complies with NEMA Type 3R, 4, 4X, 12 and 13 and IEC 60529 IP66. It is RoHS and REACH compliant; the 304 stainless equivalent is 1418N4SSO10.
