Hammond 1418N4S16D6 20x20x6 in Type 4X 316 Stainless Wallmount Enclosure

The Hammond 1418N4S16D6 is a Type 4X wallmount enclosure formed from 316 stainless steel, measuring 20 x 20 x 6 in (508 mm x 508 mm x 152 mm) H x W x D. It is designed for use as an instrument enclosure, an electric, hydraulic or pneumatic control housing, an electrical junction box or a terminal wiring enclosure, and for locations where equipment may be hosed down or be very wet, or where corrosion is a serious problem.

The body is formed 14 gauge stainless steel with smooth, continuously welded seams and no knockouts, cutouts or holes. A formed lip on the door and enclosure excludes flowing liquids and contaminants, and a seamless poured-in-place gasket seals the door. The door hangs on a stainless steel continuous hinge that can be removed by pulling the hinge pin, and closes with stainless steel clamps with provision for padlocking. The cover and enclosure are natural stainless steel with a smooth brushed finish.

Its square 20 x 20 in face gives equal height and width for component layout. At 6 in (152 mm) deep, with a usable depth of 6.17 in per the drawing, it is one of the shallower sizes in the series. The drawing shows a door opening of 17.21 x 17.21 in (W x H), and an included removable 12 gauge inner panel of 17 x 17 in (432 mm x 432 mm) H x W, finished in white powder coating and mounted on collar studs. Shipping weight is 40 lbs (18.14 kg).

Welded brackets are provided for wall mounting, with 0.44 in mounting holes shown on the drawing. A bonding stud on the door, a grounding stud in the enclosure and a literature pocket inside the door are included. The series is listed to UL 508A Type 3R, 4, 4X and 12 and CSA Type 3R, 4, 4X and 12, and complies with NEMA Type 3R, 4, 4X, 12 and 13 and IEC 60529 IP66. It is RoHS and REACH compliant; the 304 stainless equivalent is 1418N4SSD6.
