Hammond 1418G8 16x16x8-Inch NEMA 12 Steel Wallmount Enclosure

Part 1418G8 is a 16 x 16 x 8 in (406 mm x 406 mm x 203 mm) wall-mounted control enclosure from Hammond's 1418 Series, with a continuous hinge door held by stainless steel clamps. It is designed to house electrical, electronic, hydraulic or pneumatic controls and instruments, and provides a degree of protection from falling dirt, dust, oil and water.

The square 16 x 16 in face gives equal height and width for component layout, and the 8 in depth gives a usable depth of 8.01 in on the manufacturer's drawing. The door opening is shown as 13.22 in wide by 13.22 in high, and the side view shows an overall height of 18.25 in. A removable 12 gauge inner panel measuring 13.00 in (330 mm) high by 13.00 in (330 mm) wide is included and mounts on collar studs; it is finished in white powder coating.

The body and door are formed from 14 gauge steel with smooth, continuously welded seams and no knockouts, cutouts or holes. A formed lip on both door and enclosure helps exclude flowing liquids and contaminants, and oil resistant gaskets are permanently secured. The door can be removed by pulling the hinge pin, and there is provision for padlocking. Cover and enclosure are finished inside and out in recoatable smooth ANSI 61 gray powder coating.

Welded brackets provide for wall mounting, with 0.44 in diameter mounting holes shown on the drawing. A bonding stud is fitted on the door, a grounding stud in the enclosure, and a literature pocket on the inside of the door. The 1418 Series is rated UL 508A Type 12 and 13 and CSA Type 12 and 13, and complies with NEMA Type 12 and 13 and IEC 60529 IP54 (UL File E65324, CSA Cert. LR21001). The 1418G8 ships in a box at 34 lbs (15.42 kg).
