Hammond 1418ER6 20x24x6-Inch Clamped-Door Type 12 Wall Enclosure

The Hammond 1418ER6 is a Type 12 mild steel wallmount enclosure measuring 20 x 24 x 6 in (508 mm x 610 mm x 152 mm), built to house electrical, electronic, hydraulic or pneumatic controls and instruments. It is aimed at panel builders, OEM engineers and electricians who need a clamped-door control box that gives a degree of protection from falling dirt, dust, oil and water.

Its body is wider than it is tall (24 in wide by 20 in high), suiting side-to-side control layouts, and the slim 6 in depth gives a usable depth of 6.01 in on the manufacturer's drawing. The door opening is shown as 21.22 in wide by 17.22 in high, and the side view shows an overall height of 22.25 in. A removable 12 gauge inner panel measuring 17.00 in (432 mm) high by 21.00 in (533 mm) wide is included and mounts on collar studs; it is finished in white powder coating.

Construction is formed 14 gauge steel for both body and door, with smooth, continuously welded seams that have no knockouts, cutouts or holes, so you add only the entries your job needs. Oil resistant gaskets are permanently secured, a formed lip on door and enclosure helps keep out flowing liquids, and the continuous hinge door lifts off by pulling the hinge pin. The inside and outside are powder coated in recoatable smooth ANSI 61 gray, and the door has provision for a padlock.

Welded brackets provide for wall mounting, with 0.44 in diameter mounting holes shown on the drawing. A bonding stud is fitted on the door, a grounding stud in the enclosure, and a literature pocket on the inside of the door. The 1418 Series is rated UL 508A Type 12 and 13 and CSA Type 12 and 13, and complies with NEMA Type 12 and 13 and IEC 60529 IP54 (UL File E65324, CSA Cert. LR21001). The 1418ER6 ships in a box at 54 lbs (24.49 kg).
