Hammond 1414N4M8 14x12x8 in Type 4 Junction Box, Lift-Off Cover

The 1414N4M8 is a 14 x 12 x 8 in (356 x 305 x 203 mm) Type 4 mild steel junction box from the 1414 N4 Series, with a lift-off cover secured by stainless steel clamps and screws. It is designed for use as an instrument enclosure, electric, hydraulic or pneumatic control housing, electrical junction box or terminal wiring enclosure, and provides protection where equipment may be hosed down or otherwise be very wet, or outdoors for full weather protection.

At 8 in deep, the 1414N4M8 is the deeper 14 x 12 in size in the lift-off range, with 7.35 in of usable depth behind the cover for deeper instruments, controls or terminal wiring.

The body is formed from 16 or 14 gauge steel and the cover from 14 gauge steel, with smooth, continuously welded seams and no knockouts, cutouts or holes. A seamless poured-in place gasket seals the cover. A removable 14 gauge inner panel mounts on internal threaded weld studs and is finished in white powder coating. Cover and enclosure are phosphatized and finished in recoatable smooth ANSI 61 gray powder coating.

Per the drawing, the 1414N4M8 has a door opening of 11.30 in wide x 13.30 in high, 7.35 in of usable depth, and 13.10 in x 11.10 in of clear space available on the cover. Welded brackets with 0.31 in mounting holes provide for enclosure mounting, and a bonding stud on the cover plus a grounding stud on the body simplify grounding. Shipping weight is 22 lbs (9.98 kg).
