Hammond 1414A 4x4x3 Type 12 Steel Junction Box, Lift-Off Cover

The 1414A is the smallest box in the 1414 Series: a Type 12 mild steel junction box measuring 4 x 4 x 3 in (102 x 102 x 76 mm) with a lift-off cover held by clamps. It is a compact choice for electricians and OEM builders who need a sealed splice point, small terminal housing or instrument box indoors.

The body is formed from 16 or 14 gauge mild steel with smooth, continuously welded seams and no knockouts, cutouts or holes. The 14 gauge lift-off cover is secured with stainless steel clamps and plated steel screws, sealed by a seamless poured-in place gasket, and retained with a plated chain when open so it stays with the box during service. Welded brackets provide for enclosure mounting.

At 4 x 4 in it is below the size where the series adds an inner panel, so no inner panel is included; components mount directly inside the 3 in deep body. Internal threaded weld studs are provided for mounting an inner panel. Additional inner panels, a swing panel kit, terminal kit assemblies and door clamping hardware are listed as accessories.

The 1414 Series is rated UL 508A and CSA Type 12 and 13 and complies with NEMA Type 12 and 13 and IEC 60529 IP54, giving a degree of protection from falling dirt, dust, oil and water. Cover and enclosure are phosphatized and finished in ANSI 61 gray recoatable powder coating, a bonding stud is provided on the door and a grounding stud on the enclosure, and the part is REACH and RoHS compliant.
