Hammond 1411FU 4×2.2×3 in Unfinished Aluminum Utility Case

The 1411FU is an unpainted aluminum utility case from the 1411 series, supplied in a natural aluminum finish without mounting flanges. At a nominal 4 x 2.2 x 3 in (102 x 56 x 76 mm), it is aimed at engineers and technicians who want a simple metal box for small electronics that they can machine and finish themselves.

Construction is two pieces: a bottom and a cover, both made from 0.04" (1.02 mm) aluminum panels. Each purchased assembly includes the bottom, the cover and four self-tapping cover screws. Replacement cover screws are available as 1421J6, a package of six 6-32 x 1/4" plated self-tapping screws.

According to the drawing, the assembled box measures 101.24 mm [3.99 in] long, 56.79 mm [2.24 in] wide and 76.40 mm [3.01 in] high. Usable inside space is 99.21 mm [3.91 in] long by 51.94 mm [2.05 in] wide by 74.37 mm [2.93 in] high. Shipping weight is 0.23 lbs (0.10 kg).

Because the aluminum is left unpainted, it is protected through manufacturing and shipping by a plastic film cover that keeps the finish clean and doubles as a removable drilling template. Hammond also offers factory modification such as milling, drilling and printing, and solid models are available in STEP or IGES.
