The D size takes the 3.20 x 2.20 in (81 x 56 mm) footprint of the C size and adds height, to 1.60 in (41 mm), for taller components on the same board area.
Both the bottom and the cover are formed from 0.04 in thick aluminum. This version is left as unfinished aluminum. It is protected through manufacturing and shipping by a plastic film cover that keeps the surface in good condition and also doubles as a removable drilling template.
The purchased assembly includes the bottom, cover and 4 cover screws; the cover fastens with self-tapping screws. Replacement screws are available as 1421J6, a package of six 6-32 Philips head screws. The 1411DU can also be factory modified (milling, drilling, printing), and solid models are available in STEP or IGES format for enclosure layout work.
