Hammond 1402DV Vented Aluminum Instrument Case, 7.1 x 7.3

The 1402DV is a vented 1402 Series metal instrument enclosure: a 2.40 in (61 mm) high, 7.10 in (180 mm) wide and 7.30 in (185 mm) deep aluminum case with top and bottom with vent slots. It is aimed at engineers, OEM builders and integrators who need a bench or desktop housing for electronics built around a 160 x 160 Eurocard, with 6.34 in (161 mm) of PC board clearance width.

The D size keeps the 7.10 in (180 mm) width and 2.40 in (61 mm) height of the B size but extends the depth to 7.30 in (185 mm), matching a 160 x 160 Eurocard. Vent slots in the top and bottom make it the ventilated counterpart of the solid 1402D.

Construction follows the 1402 Series design. The top and bottom are 12 gauge aluminum finished in beige and attach to an internal aluminum extrusion that carries mounting slots for printed circuit boards or panels. The front and rear panels are 14 gauge natural aluminum, paper coated on one side, and are screwed to the extrusion, so they can be removed easily for access to components.

The purchased assembly includes the base, cover, end panels, extrusions, cover screws, panel screws and self-adhesive rubber feet. Cover screws are #10-32 x 1/4 in self-tapping and panel screws are #4-24 x 1/4 in self-tapping; the recommended cover screw torque is 14-15 lbf-in (160-170 cN-m). Replacement hardware for this size is pack 1402-7H, which contains front panel screws, side screws, extrusions and rubber feet.

The 1402DV is RoHS and REACH compliant, ships in shrink wrap and has a listed shipping weight of 3.01 lbs (1.37 kg). The enclosure can be factory modified (milling, drilling, printing), and solid models are available in .stp or .x_t format.
