The 126A is a 5K to 5K ohm tube driver interstage transformer designed for driver use only in single ended tube output amplifiers. It replaces a coupling capacitor circuit between the driver and output stages for improved sound, and is aimed at single ended amplifier designers and DIY builders.
The 126A carries a rated DC bias current of 15 mA on a core that is gapped to support that current, with an inductance of 59 henrys. Primary and secondary are both 5K ohms with 178 ohms DC resistance each, and the 4 audio watt rating is shared across the 126 Series. All 126 models use bifilar wound windings for coupling and bandwidth, and the series is specified for a minimum frequency response of 20 Hz - 20 kHz (+/- 1 dB max, ref. 1 kHz).
The core is built with hi grade 29M6 silicon laminations. Maximum working voltage is 400 VDC and units are hi-pot tested at 1,000 VDC.
The 126A is a closed style transformer with leads at least 8 inches long. Dimensions are A 2.50 in (64 mm), B 3.12 in (79 mm), C 3.12 in (79 mm), D 2.00 in (51 mm) and E 2.25 in (57 mm), with 0.20 in (5 mm) x 0.38 in (10 mm) mounting slots. The series lists a unit weight of 3 lbs. 2 oz., while the part's shipping weight is listed as 1.2 lbs (0.54 kg). It is RoHS and REACH compliant. Compared with the 126B, which shares the 5K impedance, this model has a lower 15 mA bias rating and a higher 59 H inductance.
