Hammond 1182T117P 1500 VA Potted Toroid, 234V CT or 117V Output

The 1182T117P is a 1500 VA potted-center toroidal transformer with two 117 V secondaries that mirror its two 117 V primaries. Series-connected secondaries give 234V C.T. @ 6.4A and parallel-connected give 117V @ 12.8A, making it the largest 117 V output model in the 1182 range for 117/234 V conversion and isolation.

The drawing lists each secondary as 117V @ 6.40 A, with #12 TEW primary and secondary leads 8"-9" long and stripped 0.5" minimum. The series table gives 2.10% regulation, a potted toroid center and dimension reference M; the series notes that the 1,500 VA size is supplied with a potted center for extra strength. Shipping weight is 28 lbs (12.70 kg), and the drawing lists 24.75 lbs +/- 4%.

The dual primary accepts 117 VAC (parallel connection) or 234 VAC (series connection) at 50/60 Hz, with a connection sheet included. Units are designed to run with every winding engaged, in series or parallel, or as an autotransformer. Plan the supply protection for toroidal inrush: the magnetizing current at energization is limited only by the primary's low DC resistance, so a slow-blow fuse, time-delayed breaker or soft-start is recommended.
