Hammond 1182H15 225 VA Toroid Transformer, Dual 15V Secondaries

The 1182H15 is a 225 VA toroid power transformer from the 1182 Series, aimed at OEM engineers and panel builders who need a compact low-voltage AC source. Its dual 117/234 VAC primary operates at 50/60 Hz, and the toroidal core shape gives the series its low profile, light weight, cool running and high efficiency, with low stray magnetic flux leakage (low EMI).

Two 15 V secondary windings (RED-BLU and GRY-YEL, each 7.50A) let you choose the output: connected in series they deliver 30V C.T. @ 7.5A, connected in parallel they deliver 15V @ 15A. The two 117 V primaries (BLK-WHT and BRN-ORN) are paralleled for 117 V or series-connected for 234 V. Units are designed to have all windings engaged, either series or parallel connected, or connected as an autotransformer. Voltage regulation is 7.20%; the toroid has an open center (dimension reference G).

The 1182H15 is manufactured using Class B (130 °C) materials and is hi-pot tested at 4,000 VAC between primary and secondary, with 600 V tests primary-to-primary and secondary-to-secondary. All leads exit 8"-9" long and are stripped 0.5" minimum; primary leads are #20 TEW and the heavier secondary leads are #14 TEW. It is UL recognized to UL 5085-1 and UL 5085-2 (file E207860), CSA certified to C22.2 #66.1-6 and #66.2-6 (file 209651), and RoHS and REACH compliant.

Mounting hardware is supplied: two 0.062" thick x 3.75" OD rubber washers, one 16 gauge x 3.56" OD steel mounting washer, and one 1/4-20 bolt 2.50" long with a lock washer and 1/4-20 hex nut. Drawing weight is 4.85 lbs +/- 4%; shipping weight is 5.3 lbs (2.40 kg). Because toroids can draw high magnetizing current at switch-on, the manufacturer recommends a slow-blow fuse, time-delayed breaker or soft-start circuitry on the supply line.
